I agree with you wholeheartedly. I am so proud of you for going back to school as I am sure it is a big dicision for you. Addiction is one of those things that people have problems understand especially if it is not one that the individual themselves have ever had to deal with. Denial is the biggest issue and one that I hope people can get past. Once you realize you have a problem then and only then can you truly begin the long struggle of fixing it. Thank you for following my blog. I truly appreciate your input!!! Sorry it took me so long to respond I only just now saw your comment. I hope that you have more to add later. I also want to wish you luck on your future and the wonderful things that I truly believe you will accomplish!Cassandrahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01732923241370867923noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3745647543595264350.post-61820201408181080162011-02-05T18:55:19.802-08:002011-02-05T18:55:19.802-08:00I have followed your blog for awhile and have enjo...I have followed your blog for awhile and have enjoyed it very much. Bringing up the topic of addiction is one that is very dear to my heart. I have had food issues my whole life and being 50 now means quite a few years. I don't remember ever looking at a picture of myself and liking it when I grew up. Now that I have returned to college and in the Chemical Dependency Program, addiction opens up a myrid of emotions for most. I agree that food addiction is a difficult one to have but no addiction is more ideal than the next. All addictions bring a street person in mind and some people thinking...."I'm not like that person". Addiction is a disease much like diabetes. Hopefully you wouldn't look down on somebody who was taking medication for diabetes or radition for cancer. Having diabetes or cancer are horrible illnesses of themselves but there isn't the same intense shame associated with them as there is addiction. A disease is a disease is a disease...there aren't better ones to have or worse ones to have. You don't have to look far to find someone who is not effected by addiciton. Thank you for dealing with the subject because it is something that touches almost every life in this country in one way or another. When we start thinking of addiction as a brain disease and start having compassion for the people involved, only then will we be a kinder and gentler people. Addiction is not about being weak willed or about having choice. It's about a brain disease..so please check your judgements at the door.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12701105266642069816noreply@blogger.com
